They look as if they just stepped out of a diminutive French fashion salon on their way to Cirque de Soleil..
We look as if we've just stepped out of a diminutive French Fashion Salon on our way to the Moulin Rouge. We are dressed in beautiful papers, fabric, flowers, ribbons ,and whimsical baubles.Each doll is different and it is a charming surprise to see how the papers are folded and ruffled, the flowers, ribbons and baubles are placed just so, and how we emerge into Couture Butterlies.
The Doll Maker
I first started making dolls when I lived in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Folk dolls were everywhere and my early dolls had embrodiered faces and were very "folk". When I moved back to the states I found a wonderful cache of bisque heads and began to make the dolls more elegant. Sometimes a wonderful bit of fabric or gorgeous handmade paper or a charming bauble will inspire a doll. I never know where it will take me, but I'm always delighted with the doll that emerges.
